I Don't Normally Love Cloying Scents, But These 15 Sweet Perfumes Have Completely Changed My Tune
You might be surprised by just how lovable they are.
Much of my childhood was spent wearing sweet, fruity, and lively body sprays with a hint of shimmer in brightly-colored bottles, and I wouldn't have it any other way. Even today, as I navigate my way through my mid-twenties, I have a soft spot for the playful fragrances that remind me of countless post-lunch swing sessions, late night confessions whispered from hot pink sleeping bags, and asking for more sprinkles on home-made birthday cakes. Most everything about my childhood was sweet, and I'll always find ways to add a hint of nostalgia to my current-day routines. Lately, I've been on the hunt for elevated, sweet perfumes that not only make me feel like the 2000's RomCom heroine of my dreams (Jenna Rink, the fictional woman you are), and aren't cloying or have been done already.
While the task wasn't without it's challenges, I ended up falling head-over-heels for a number of sweet perfumes that have become permanent staples in my lineup. Below, I'm sharing the 15 fragrances that have caught my attention from several of my top brands. Not only do these perfume picks offer a sweet escape, but they keep me coming back for more after every spritz. But be forewarned, you refuse to wear anything but dewy mango, honeyed peach, or creamy, vanilla bean whipped cream from now on.
What are sweet perfumes?
Addictive, alluring, and enthralling, the memorable fragrances falling under this category are often recognized for their ability to evoke deep nostalgia, romance, and sensuality by artfully combining sweet notes ranging from confectionary delicacies to enthralling florals. The goal in the creation of these scents is to not only treat wearers to nostalgia with every spritz, but to also transport them through pleasure. In a sweet perfume, candied fruits (frequently in a crushed or jam-like form) could be enlivened by the warmth and sheerness of an amber, or given a refreshing dewiness with the addition of crisp apple and raspberry accord. Many of my favorite sweet perfumes also feature a grounding, woody note that further emphasizes gourmands. That's right—Not all sweet perfumes are classified as gourmands. Scroll ahead for a look at several of my new and old favorite sweet perfumes I can't stop wearing.

Scent Type: Warm Gourmand | Notes: Nutty pistachio, strawberry, freesia, raspberry, vanilla marshmallow, amber
Jammy and juicy, The 7 Virtues' newest fragrance launch offers a strawberry-spiked take on a gourmand. Its pistachio note is swirled with sun-ripened strawberry, fresh freesia, and whipped vanilla marshmallow for a mouthwatering composition reminiscent of a strawberry shortcake. It's sweet without being cloying, and warms beautifully on the skin for a soft and lightly gourmand finish that's addictive. Consider this my signature spring-to-summer scent as temperatures tick upwards.
Customer Review: "It’s just…perfect. It’s like strawberry pie in a bottle. It’s so comforting to me and I really can’t get enough of it. On first spray you really get the grounded, nuttiness of the pistachio and the bright, playful, jammy strawberry. After a few hours you're left with the perfect vanilla marshmallow—just sweet enough. My new signature scent!"
Scent Type: Woody floral | Notes: Mandarin, lavender, orange blossom, manuka honey, saffron, tonka, vanilla bean, sandalwood
I'm not planning on heading down the aisle anytime soon, but if I were preparing to dawn a veil and a white dress, I would gravitate towards a luminous honeyed scent like Honey Moon by Phlur. Indulgent and sweet without veering into the cloying territory, the new launch opens with dreamy florals coupled with sparkling mandarin and lavender. Its heart, made of orange blossom and saffron, reveals a calming blend of tonka and sandalwood that gives this blend a warm, grounding finale.
Customer Review: "I'm obsessed with this scent. It opens a little citrusy, then melts into this warm honey-lavender vibe that feels cozy and elegant at the same time. I get hints of orange blossom and sandalwood too. It's the kind of perfume I'd wear on a relaxed dinner night or whenever I want to feel put together."
Scent Type: Fruity floral | Notes: Cassis berries, ambrette seeds, peach nectar, jasmine petals, pink sugar, white musk, tonka bean, blond woods
Sparkling sugar is at the heart of this fresh, fruity floral from Clean Reserve. Blending cassis berries and luscious peach nectar with soft pink sugar, this fragrance is classically sweet and elegant. The luminous ambrette and sheer musk layered with powdered jasmine petals and tonka bean is what gives it an understated elegance that reminds me of a bright spring day with nothing on the schedule but sunbathing with a glass of lemonade in hand.
Customer Review: "This is a wonderfully light and airy fragrance. It's fruity and sweet at first spray, like peach-infused sugar water or dewy peaches on a summer morning. The white florals and musk help to balance the sweetness and give it more body. The peach is there for most of the wear before leaving you with a saccharine skin scent."
Scent Type: Floral gourmand | Notes: Tangerine heart, neroli, pink pepper, lavandin, orange flower, almond blossom, vanilla bean chantilly, cocoa shell, tonka bean
If I'm going to reach for a gourmand (which happens less frequently when I transition to my skin-like spring and summer fragrances), my top options will most likely be an abstract take on the confectionary-like, sweet scents that have taken this year by storm. I'm enamored by ones like Henry Rose's Dave. Warm and spicy, the eau de parfum adds an unexpected twist to your classic vanilla by pairing a lavender bean chantilly with pink pepper and neroli. This one is stunning when paired with another one of my Henry Rose favorites, Sheep's Clothing, to accentuate the latter's fluffy rose.
Customer Review: "Very beautiful, soft, and chic. It’s chantilly cream in a bottle, like icing a vanilla cake with the cream and delicate vanilla bean specks in the background. Light, airy, and refined. A great choice if you’re not usually into gourmands but want to try something gently sweet and different."
Scent Type: Fruity floral | Notes: Sweet peach, red apple, bergamot, freesia, jasmine, rose, frangipani, nectarine, oakmoss, patchouli, vanilla, praline, musk, Kayali signature accord, amber woods, sheer tonka
Your hunt for a delicious sweet, tangy, and crisp fragrance to transport you literally anywhere with sun, sand, and endless days ends here with Kayali's Eden Sweet Peach | 35. We're first introduced to a luscious peach note combined with refreshing red apple and lively bergamot before shifting into a creamy, frangipani heart. Upon drydown, the softness and warmth take on another form with grounding oakmoss, smooth amber woods, and a sheer, velvety tonka bean.
Customer Review: "A fragrance firmly within the Eden line universe: a strong, fruity opening with a sweet and joyful character, centered on ripe, juicy peach in this case. Beautiful, feminine, and sensual, perfectly resonating with the captivating, heart-stealing beauty of its bottle. It quickly transforms into a skin scent, much like its predecessors—lychee and apple—though it leans closer to the ethereal quality of the first. The base is lightly creamy, with detectable praline softened by subtle earthy undertones."
Scent type: Fruity gourmand | Notes: Bergamot essential oil, raspberry, pear, pink dragibus, milk, peony, powdered Sugar, moss, orcanox, tonka bean
This perfume is a cross between cotton candy and peony, and I can't seem to get enough of it. While it does open with a dramatic, sugary-sweet mix of raspberry, pear, and pink dragibus, its heart of milk, peony, and powered sugar takes center stage. Then, just before you're swept away in the almost tooth-ache of it all, you're grounded by a blend of dry moss and tonka bean that sits close to the skin. It's a masterclass in multifaceted sweet perfumes that's majorly underrated, and I'm on a mission to correct it.
Customer Review: "This is straight sugar, but not in a basic way. It opens super juicy and sweet—raspberry, pear, a little sparkle—then turns into this creamy cotton candy vibe. The dry down is what got me though… soft, musky, a little powdery, and kinda addictive in a 'wait, what is that?' way. It’s Loud at first, then melts into a soft skin scent that still lingers. I’d wear it on nights out, dates, or anytime I want to smell edible!! In my head it’s Pink neon, lip gloss, late-night carnival energy… cute, but not innocent."
Scent Type: Fruity floral | Notes: Raspberry accord, coconut accord, orange blossom, diva lavender, vanilla
The tangy raspberry note in this new Yves Saint Laurent launch is lush, elegant, and lively when combined with the line's elegant, warm floral signature and sensual orange blossom. I'm obsessed with its soft, creamy coconut and lavender undertones since it adds addictive warmth and a hint of freshness to the blend. Indulgent and addictive without bordering on syrupy, this scent is reminiscent of eye-catching confectionary creations topped with freshly collected, juicy raspberries. I'm still looking for the perfect scent to pair it with, but this one wears beautifully on its own.
Customer Review: "This version smooths out the sharper edges of the OG and leans into a juicy berry sweetness. The tart fruit note is plush and glossy, not synthetic or juvenile, and it plays well with the familiar Libre lavender/vanilla backbone. Instead of fighting for attention, the sweetness and aromatics are balanced, giving the scent a more relaxed confidence than the OG ever had. It feels modern, wearable, and frankly more fun."
Scent Type: Fruity gourmand | Notes: Jasmine, peach, vanilla
When I think of which notes pair best with juicy peach, my mind immediately goes to velvety jasmine absolute to flood the composition with warmth. This new eau de parfum by Dior is a masterclass in combining the two, creating a multifaceted floral infusion with what the brand describes as, "a gourmand trial" when layered with delicate whipped cream. It reinvents the jasmine we have come to know and love by Dior, while offering a new, luminous fruity facet. I'm already planning to snag the two other scents offered in the Addict trio: Purple Glow and Rosy Glow.
Customer Review: "The opening is bright and playful—[I] think ripe peach with a sugary twist. It’s fun and instantly noticeable, though it does lean more sweet and gourmand than refined. As it settles, the peach blends into a creamy vanilla base with a light floral touch from jasmine. On my skin, the jasmine stays subtle and never really takes center stage. The dry down becomes peach-vanilla cream, cozy and comforting, but also fairly linear."
One thing about me? I'll always choose Mango and Sticky rice as a dessert over the likes of cakes, pies, crumbles, and ice cream sundaes. d'Annam's newest fragrance launch captures everything I love about the Thai treat in a glorious homage with ripe mango notes combined with rice and a creamy, coconut milk note that's light, refined, and delectable. Of all the most memorable fragrance launches I've seen so far this year, this fruity gourmand composition is one of my go-to's (and not just because wearing it makes me immediately crave this dessert once temperatures top 60°F).
Customer Review: "The opening is really fresh, like a juicy, slightly green mango rather than a sugary dessert. It’s bright and a bit tangy, not heavy at all. As it settles, it shifts into something softer and more skin-like. On me, the dry down is this really nice clean musk with just a hint of that creamy rice vibe in the background. It never turns overly sweet or sticky, which I appreciate. It’s more of a subtle, comforting scent than a literal dessert, and I keep catching little wafts of it throughout the day."
Scent Type: Fruity floral | Notes: Red currant, raspberry, white musk
Speaking of desserts, what better way to lean into the sweeter things in life than by wearing a photorealistic perfume that smells exactly like fresh raspberries? Raspberry Ripple, by Jo Malone London, takes notes from the classic sweet treat while invoking childhood memories by swirling together the tanginess of raspberries and redcurrants with vivacious white musk. I indulged myself in raspberry ripples during my English countryside summers, and I believe this fragrance feels as light and fresh as those sun-soaked days. While I wouldn't describe it as sugary, this one perfectly balances its tart notes with playful, sweet ones.
Customer Review: "The presentation alone makes you want to love what's inside Opening with red currant, this cologne immediately hits you with a realistic, tart raspberry that's refreshingly acidic rather than cloying. Don't expect ice cream nostalgia here—this is pure, unadulterated berry tartness. The middle raspberry note maintains that tangy authenticity, while white musk provides a clean, soft foundation."
Scent Type: Amber woods | Notes: Bitter almond essence, angelica roots essence, madeleine accord, carrot heart, absolu ambrette, musk
I don't often find myself sitting in a French cafe, but the next time I slip into one, I hope I will have remembered to spritz myself with this Maison Margiela Favorite. Afternoon Delight is a warm and cozy, vanilla-forward fragrance blended with warm sandalwood and a soft, creamy bouquet of florals to deliver the uplifting aroma of baked goods. I immediately detect notes of almond enhanced with a crumbly, warm madeleine accord and something sheer and milky… it has to be the musk entwined with glowing ambrette. While butter and brown sugar are not featured as notes here, but whispers of them are present.
Customer Review: "Hyper-realistic madeleine cookies—butter, sugar, vanilla extract and all. Hard to understand the hate train on this one, it seems like it would be an easy crowd pleaser for any gourmand lover! I suppose I could see that one maybe doesn’t want to smell like butter, but I find it comforting. An easy daytime reach for me."
Scent Type: Fruity floral | Notes: Wild strawberry, gardenia, brown sugar, vanilla, patchouli
Inspired by the chypre fragrance family (but fully embracing gourmands), Miu Miu's Miutine Eau de Parfum offers a cheek sweet scent reminiscent of first love. It offers a sophisticated blend of bright citrus before being rounded out by a burst of wild strawberry and brown sugar accords for a chypre twist. The composition is then grounded by smooth brown sugar, and a warm mix of vanilla and patchouli for an intimate and grounding ground finale. I'm obsessed with the scent, but also can't help putting this bottle on display since it doubles as art since its modern brown-tinted glass and sequin-shaped black cap are undeniably chic.
Customer Review: "Strawberry forms the dominant accord of this composition, yet it is refined by powdery notes that seem to tame its gourmand, dessert-like character, lending it a more mature, boudoir quality. The floral tones, slightly heady, make this fragrance truly distinctive. The base resonates with vanilla, warmth, and femininity—still carrying a trace of strawberry. The bottle perfectly captures the spirit of the perfume… not a sugary pink strawberry, but a sophisticated, elegant fruit that adds a touch of intrigue."
Scent Type: Aromatic gourmand | Notes: Vanilla infusion, lavender, ginger, vanilla caviar, vanilla absolute
Admittedly, it took me a couple of wears to fall for this fragrance, but once I did, there was no turning back. Burberry Goddess transports me right back to my Manhattan apartment, where I spent fall exploring grown-up gourmand perfumes in hopes of discovering a signature scent to mark the beginning of a new era. While the composition opens with a rich, vanilla infusion and powdery, fresh lavender, its ginger heart lends unexpected brightness and versatility. Its base offers two more vanilla layers (one in caviar, the other in an absolute). Enchanting and powerful, this sweet perfume is one you won't want to miss.
Customer Review: "Champagne and cinnabon by candlelight at a little bistro table, sitting with the love of my life listening to Norah Jones on a rainy spring evening. This is the first evening I wore Burberry Goddess and it describes exactly how this fragrance makes me feel. Romantic, sensual, elegant, soulful. It is comforting, extraordinary yet humble, and perfectly balanced."
Scent Type: Floral gourmand | Notes: Peach, rose, honey, peach, blackcurrant, rose, jasmine, honey, vanilla
If you can't stop reaching for Kilian Paris' Love, Don't Be Shy Eau de Parfum, then prepare to meet its honeyed, gourmand soulmate mate. Forbidden Games captures the senses with
honey-drizzled peach that's been dusted in cinnamon that unfurls itself to reveal a glowing, floral heart of Bulgarian rose orpur, Bulgarian geranium, and enthralling jasmine. The scent then settles into sticky-sweet Laotian honey combined with vanilla for a delightful blend that lingers like a dream on the skin. In other words, this is the sweet perfume to reach for if your goal is to smell like a modern-day Greek goddess.
Customer Review: "This perfume checks all my boxes! It has a beautiful non-synthetic peach smell. I don’t get the cinnamon at all, but the black current blends nicely with the peach. The heart is a fresh rose that carries the peach smell, the Jasmin gives just the right amount of sweetness without it being cloying or syrupy sweet. On the dry down it changes to a warm vanilla honey, but that peach definitely is there too. The peach carries through and I’m here for it."
Scent Type: Amber gourmand | Notes: Peach, rose, honey, peach, blackcurrant, rose, jasmine, honey, vanilla
I recently wrote a love letter to Trudon's best fragrances, but Yann Vasnier's 45°stands out to me as the best new addition in my fragrance collection. An ode to opulence without rigidity or tired traditions, this perfume opens with a stunning honey accord accentuated with bergamot before shifting into a trio of creamy, vanilla notes elevated with glowing benzoin resin and the warmth offered by georgywood. The sensuality of this Trudon scent is unparalleled, and so is its epic longevity (a couple of spritzes to the inner wrists and neck delivered all-day wear).
Customer Review: "This fragrance is an absolute masterpiece. The honey note gave me pause, but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. Every note is incredibly well-blended, creating a smooth, rich composition that feels both refined and indulgent. It's truly a luxurious vanilla. It's warm, elegant, and utterly sophisticated. There is absolutely nothing cheap or synthetic about this scent. It wears beautifully, with impressive longevity and amazing sillage that leaves a lasting impression without being overpowering."
